Mangaluru: Painzana by ICYM Ashoknagar, a grand success

Mangaluru, Nov 8: Painzana, the inter-parish dance competition was held at the premises of St Dominic’s Church Ashoknagar, on the evening of Sunday, November 6.

The ICYM Unit of Ashoknagar Parish organised this splendid event, as Dominicans all over the world celebrated the 800 jubilee of their Order.



































Eight parishes around the city took part in the dance competition of various categories. Cordel Parish won the overall championship.

 J R Lobo, MLA, Mangaluru South was the chief guest of the event. In his speech, he congratulated the ICYM Ashoknagar unit for organising a wonderful event that encouraged young talents . Guest of honour Ivan D’Souza, MLC and chief whip, Karnataka legislative council, while speaking to the gathering recalled the various activities of ICYM, Ashoknagar. He also added that it was his third visit here, to be part of the event organised by ICYM.

ICYM diocesan director Fr Ronald D’Souza said, the hard work and the active role of ICYM Unit of Ashoknagar Parish had been recognised by the diocese, thereby, awarding them the best unit prize in the episcopal city deanery.

On the auspicious occasion, parish priest and director Fr Aquin Noronha OP, Fr Praveen Monteiro OP, Welvin Castelino president of ICYM, Ashit Pereira NSUI district president, Sampath Shetty, corporators Nagaveni and Harish Shetty were present, amongst others.
