Kasargod, Nov 9: Indian Catholic Youth movement(ICYM), Kasargod zone celebrated their silver jubilee and held 'Gadyant Ek Dees' (a day in the fields) 2016 programme at Bajilakariya fields near Varkady recently.

Several competitions were held on the occasion. Children, youngsters and elderly participated with excitement. Tug of war, Kabaddi and other competitions were witness to exciting moments. Most of the teams in the unit participated. Those present enjoyed the company of participants throughout the day. ICYM has brought together those youngsters who traded local sports for mobiles in their hands.

Grama panchayat member Jacintha D'Souza set the programme in motion. Varkady Church parish priest, Fr Francis Rodrigues, ICYM zonal director Fr Victor D'Souza, Varkady pastoral council secretary Lavina Monteiro, Catholic Sabha president Jayaprakash D'Souza, ICYM zonal president Lawrence D'Souza, zonal secretary Anitha Tellis, unit convener Sr Precilla D'Cunha and others were present.

In the concluding ceremony, ICYM diocese director Fr Ronald D'Souza, Manjeshwara Church parish priest Fr Valerian Lewis, ICYM central committee president Dixon D'Costa, secretary Ancita D'Souza, Kasargod zonal ICYM former president and animator Roshan Kayyar, Varkady grama panchayat president Sadashiva Nayak, Vandana D'Souza and others present on the occasion distributed prizes to the winners of the competitions. Varkady unit won first prize and Talapady unit won second prize.
