Kundapur, Nov 9: Illegal sand mining has reportedly started once again all over the coast from the last four days. Rusted boats are being used for sand mining day in and day out. Trees are felled even in small gap of land to prepare a jetty.

Villagers allege that illegal sand miners at night have felled trees planted by the forest department in the river bed in Balkur gram and prepared a sand den.

Balkur resident Shashidhar is allegedly involved in illegally mining sand from river bed. Villagers have complained against him with the forest department stating that he has constructed a sand den at night by force though the forest department has marked the border.

Kundapur sub divisional officer S Ashwathi and geology officials visited the place and conducted investigation.
