Indian rug company wins German Design Award


New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS): Jaipur Rugs has won a German Design Award 2017.

The company won the award for Special Mention: Excellent Product Design. The announcement was made via a statement, and the award ceremony will take place in February 2017 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The winning rugs are Kras and Taittu, a part of Jaipur Rugs' Free Verse collection.

Designed by Kavi, Kras recreates patterns from crushed foil paper. The rugs are created through carefully studying the way light falls on each crease. Taittu is designed from the patterns of a rib knitted sweater.

According to the official website of the event, the German Design Award represent pioneering contributions to the German and international design landscape. It identifies and presents unique design trends: a competition that advances the design-oriented scene.
