New Rs 2000 note has no GPS-nano chip, contrary to rumours

New Delhi, Nov 10 (IExpress) : The government of India has demonetised the current Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, but it plans to replace these with new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes. However, rumours are spreading about the upcoming Rs 2000 note, with messages being circulated on WhatsApp which claim the new higher denomination currency comes with a Nano-GPS chip installed on it.

The message claims these notes are embedded with Nano-GPS chips which act as a signal reflector, giving precise location coordinates of the currency in order to allow every note to be tracked. Apparently the chip is so strong that one can track these Rs 2000 notes even if they are kept 120 metres below the ground level, according to the message.

It also claims the chip will also help identify if too many of these notes are kept in one place and alert the relevant authorities. Thus the government’s new note will help curb corruption and discourage people from hoarding black money. Except if you read the message, you can figure out this is a hoax.

Grammatical mistakes aside, the RBI’s own description for the Rs 2000 note does not mention this magnificent chip anywhere. Also at the press conference, this question was raised about the supposed GPS chip in these Rs 2000 notes and the so-called security measures. The RBI officials had dismissed these as false.

One of the messages which has been shared with us reads like this. Note we’ve left the message as it, and not edited it for grammar.

The Rs 2000 currency is designed keeping in mind to eradicate the black money issues using state of the art indigenous nano technology, every Rs. 2000 currency note is embedded with a NGC (Nano GPS Chip)

How the embeded NGC Technology Works?

The unique feature of the NGC is it dosent need any power source. It only acts as a signal reflector. When a Satellite sends a signal requesting location the NGC reflects back the signal from the location, giving precise location coordinates, and the serial number of the currency back to the satellite, this way every NGC embedded currency can be easily tracked & located even if it is kept 120 meters below ground level. The NGC cant be tampered with or removed without damaging the currency note

This whole exercise was not because of terrorism / black money et all. This was done more because of the coming UP elections. The BJP is hell bent to win in UP. This is a plan set by the RSS and the three musketeers i.e. Modi, Amit Shah and Jaitley. But what has this cost the country ? Modi promised a change but the Indian citizen has been made to run around for change ( small denomination currency ).

Moraji Desai did the same in 1978. What happened ? The black money started flowing back in six months. It will happen again in six months.

    Hello Everyone,
Swiss banks have already informed their account holders to provide tax information of the account holder of the bank.
Those who do not do so, will have their account information disclosed as of July 2018.
This has come about after United States forced all countries to divulge account holder information. As a result FATCA provision has come about in all Banks since recent.
Very soon in this world nothing can be kept secret, as we have noticed there are multiple agencies working overtime to hack into all information.

These days in India emotions of Indian's can be easily exploited using social media evil like by just click 'FB' and 'whatsapp'.

Modi Bhakts have mastered this art deceiving citizens of India. If they are countered they will tag as 'anti-national' or 'desh drohi'

No opposition party in India knows how to tackle it.It makes more damage once it is spreads no one new how to fix it.

Government and paid mainstream media nexus easily can be seen from this one issue.

If PM Modi government can take action against 'NDTV' and 'Bangla news' why Zee TV is being full permission to exploit by spreading fake news?

Why IT cell is not booking on the source of origin of this news?

During 2014 Lok Sabha elections UP MLA has uploaded fake Pakistani video, which resulted in 50 deaths and 50,000 residence refugee in their own nation during Muzzafarnagar violence.Instead of booking the cases and prosecuting PM Modi government provided Z class security on tax payers money.

This is the reality of 'Digital India'.In this case RBI influence is overpowered by Modi bhakt.

I will always support any move that's going benefit the nation and common man.
    I whole heartedly appreciate demonetizing Rs.500/- & Rs.1000/- notes.
It must have been aimed to curb counterfeit notes, terrorists funding, curbing black money, hoarding and controlling inflation.
Govt should have made provision of supplying Rs.100/- or Rs.50/- notes.
But sometime such provision not possible as it might leak the information to the public and whole purpose gets defeated.
Just imagine, who is going to suffer most, then true patriot will be very happy. We may had to undergo some difficulty but in the interest of the nation, we should afford it. BIG SALUTE!

If someone has black money, they are likely to keep it either as investment in land, gold, shares and other assets, or they would have pushed it out of the border through the "hawala" route. The big fishes in this #BlackMoney ocean have already evaded tax in #PanamaPapers and many have bought Jio IPOs .

The only people who will be effected is either small fish or common citizens who became victims of fake currency notes.

    4. NRI's exchanging money of others who had local black
    5. some broker exchanging money by 25% commission,
    6. some rich people using Mutt as Swiss bank to make it white,
    7. Rich people using hundreds of poor people to exchange their black money since each person can get 4,000/,
    8. Some black money holder burning currency,
.... but poor and middle class people losing much bigger in this move. Losing their hard earned money since they are not using bank account (some using bank account without transaction). They earn money from cow selling, plot selling, saving money by daily wages, vegetable selling, traditional business, cultivation, selling coconut, earned as middlemen or any other small traders.
Poor people, farmers and middle class people doesn't have valid declaration on their hard earned money than oral declaration. Govt. or bank will not accept oral declaration and this unaccounted money will be as black money.
This move is against Poor and middle class people, richest are again safest in India.

Tughlaq did the same thing...Such a foolish idea without proper planning..
Modis idea of cancelling currency overnight without prior intimation has stalled trade and business across the country resulting in hundreds of crore loss to the country.....
In some places people have lost their life as the hospital refused to admit those with 1000/500 notes...
In other places people committed suicide as the money they had got after selling their plot was found useless ...In some places there were violent clashes
Those who are worst affected are from the lower strata of the society..I.e poor labourers, farmers and street vendors....... Poor street vendors have virtually lost their means of livelihood as no one buys from them..
People like ambani or Malaya have nothing to loose coz they don't carry currency notes with them...it is the poor...
Those who had kept blackmoney have already found the way to deal with it...Bachanns and Patanjalis have come in support of New currency ...coz they have nothing to worry as the govt is not going to look how much money is stashed in Panama or some island...It is the poor who are facing the brunt...
Those who are rich have already found the way...Airports are queued as the rich people have found the way how to deal with their black money by booking then latter cancelling it to recash it....In the end those who are suffering from it are lliterate ignorant poor

1,2,5,10,20,50,100 rupees notes are still in circulation. Urgent people could withdraw 10000/- today from bank counter or exchange 4000/- with other denominations.
Even pappu said same thing. And tried to get some sympathy in the name of poor and farmers. But no buyers for that argument.

My only worry is that cost for replacing so much currency is massive. Paper cost, printing cost and disposing of old currency notes are there. Other than that no issues 😊

Reliance Jio has a loan of $4.9 bn which it raised via long term bonds for investment.
Total investment in the Jio project is ~$12.5 bn
The investments started from Financial Year 2012 and now in 2016 end the service is launched, in fact, major financial year ending 31 Mar 2014, then 2015 and then 2016 and current year
To break even i.e. at least recover money, the entity may take more than 5 years along with on-going capex
To break even the company needs mini 10 crore subscribers
RIL has invested more than USD 25 bn in all its business over past 5 years.
It is a listed company and second largest tax paying company in India
And to make people believe they have added the 30th dec.Comon thats the last date to legally exchange old currency to new one.If some one wanted to convert black into white,he could have done well in advance, since new notes are available from the 10th of November.
