Prashant Poojary murder-accused stabbed to death in Mysuru jail

Mysuru, Nov 10: An undertrial accused in the murder of Prashant Poojary at Moodbidri last year was murdered by another undertrial at the central jail here on Thursday November 10.

As per reports, a clash broke out among the undertrials on Thursday morning. Mustafa Kavoor (29) from Mangaluru was stabbed to death during the clash, sources said.

It is learnt that an undertrial identified as Kiran Shetty stabbed Mustafa. The jail personnel rushed a grievously injured Mustafa to hospital, but due to heavy bleeding he passed away.

The cause for the clash in jail is yet to be ascertained.

Sources said that the accused Kiran Shetty also hails from Mangaluru, and harboured a grudge against Mustafa.

A case has been registered in Mandi police station and investigation is on.

Prashant Poojary, a flower seller and Bajrang Dal activist, was murdered by a gang in October 2015 at Moodbidri. Mustafa and several others were arrested in the days following the murder.
