Udupi, Nov 11: Family members of Lawrence Selvaraj (39), constable of the district armed reserve police force, who was suffering from brain cancer and declared brain-dead, have given their nod for donating his organs. Their graceful gesture will bring back hope in the lives of several people.

Arrangements have been made to transport the harvested organs from KMC Hospital Manipal to Mangaluru on Friday November 11.

Lawrence had been admitted into Manipal hospital several days back, and he did not respond to treatments well. When his brain stopped functioning, the doctors conveyed this information to the family members of Lawrence and also told them about the provision about organs donation. The family members quickly volunteered to donate Lawlrence's organs.

The organs are being taken in a special vehicle by creating green corridor between Manipal and Mangaluru on Friday morning, sources said.

Lawrence had joined police service in 1998. He is survived by wife, a son, and a daughter. His father too had worked as policeman at Brahmavar station.
