Mangaluru, Nov 12: Fishermen from here, who participated in the rescue operation relating to the drowning of Sandalwood actors in negative roles, Anil and Uday, during the shooting of the climax scene for Kannada movie, 'Mastigudi' in which Duniya Vijay has acted in the leading role, have made the city proud with their invaluable service.

National Disaster Response Force, firemen, local divers and others who were relentlessly searching for the bodies of the drowned artistes for three days had failed to achieve any breakthrough.

A team of divers from the city who are backed by rich experience of participating in such operations, comprising members, Javed, Zakir, Arman, Wasim and Sadiq, voluntarily took part in the operation and found out both the bodies. All of them are basically fishermen. With a taste for adventure and drive to help others, they have taken part in various search and rescue operations and recovered over a hundred bodies. They have also saved the lives of a large number of people. They have already bagged the state award for rushing to the help of people in distress without caring about the risks they themselves face.

This was the team which had played a key role in finding out the bones from the depths of rivulets relating to Bhaskar Shetty murder case in spite of the rivulets being in full flow due to heavy rains. The team has its own uniform and equipment used for search operations. They belong to Mulky command group home guards and Tannirbavi team of expert divers.

Dakshina Knanada district home guard commandant, Dr Murali Mohan, profusely praised the youngsters for their sincere service and success in finding out bodies of drowned actors. He said that these people have also proved their mettle by diving in rivers like Tungabhadra, Bhadravathi and Netravati.
