Kundapur, Nov 12: The Kollur police succeeded in stopping an auto rickshaw carrying cattle illegally at Maranakatte near Kollur on Thursday November 11. The vehicle and the cattle were taken into custody.

After getting information that cattle were being transported towards Chittur illegally from the direction of Kerady village in an auto rickshaw, Kollur polce sub-inspector, Shekhar, and other personnel began to check vehicles at Maranakatte. The auto rickshaw they were waiting for came by that road but even after signalling it to stop, the driver of the auto rickshaw drove ahead. The policemen gave the vehicle a hot chase. The auto rickshaw, after moving erratically on the road for some distance, toppled to the road.

Three of the occupants of the three-wheeler then fled from the scene. The policemen took the auto rickshaw and also two male calves which were bound together in a violent manner, into their possession. A case about the incident stands filed in Kollur police station.
