Chikkamagaluru: Fake currency notes of Rs 2000 denomination enter market

Daijiworld Media Network - Chikkamagaluru (SP)

Chikkamagaluru, Nov 12: Even before many people could get know how a Rs 2,000 currency note looks and feels like, manufacturers of fake currency notes have baffled the people by putting into circulation fake currency notes of this denomination. One such note was received by Ashok, an onion merchant conducting business at APMC market yard here.

It is said that the onion merchant was away from his shop briefly when someone tendered a Rs 2,000 note to the boy handling the affairs at the shop in Ashok's absence. The boy readily accepted the note, thinking that it was the genuine new note. But Ashok, on his return, could instantly feel by its touch that it was a fake currency note. Apparently, it was a crude copy of the original but sufficient to cheat the gullible.

A minute examination of the borders of the note reveals that the sides are pruned with the help of scissors. The seven lines a genuine note bears on the side are not visible on this note. The corners are not very clear. The merchant said he would file police complaint about this note.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley addressed to the nation saying it take at least 21 days to dispense new currency in ATM machine.

Now it is festive time for counterfeiters who will the vacuum of delay and flood the market with fake currency.Added to that the citizens of India with lack of awareness of new currency will create more problems.

It is once again proved that demonetization is not a solution to ending corruption which failed twice in the past.

Utter nonsense by BJP & co, ended up being the party of hoarding and converting black money days before announcement.
and creating turmoil for the common public.
As per the reports there are tons of ways to convert black money into other assets within stipulated time. Very poor planning by BJP.

This kind of news proves that the public will not accept the new 500 and 2000 notes readily. Imagine if you are at the hypermarket and the cashier checks your notes one by one with suspicion. This already used to happen with the 'old' 500 and 1000 notes now get ready for more scrutiny.
