Kasargod: Man attacks wife, consumes poison- Both hospitalised

Kasargod, Nov 13: In an incident which occurred at Aithadka near Mulleriya in the taluk on the night of Friday November 11, a man attacked his wife with lethal weapon before consuming poison.

Both Sudhakar (45) and wife, Mamata (30), who were found to be in critical condition, were admitted into hospital immediately thereafter.

Initially Sudhakar, it is said, stabbed Mamata with a sharp object. When the neighbourers heard her wails, they became panicky and rushed to look what had happened. Sudhakar had fled from there, whereas Mamata was bleeding from injuries to her head and neck. Mamata since stands admitted into the intensive care unit of a private hospital at Mangaluru.

The locals then went searching for the culprit. They found that Sudhakar, who had consumed poison, was lying on the ground some distance away from his home. He was also admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru in serious condition.

Sudhakar, it transpires, attacked his wife in the presence of his two small children. Reasons which enraged him are unknown as yet. Adur police have registered a case and begun investigation.
