Kundapur, Nov 13: As a side of Fibre plank inserted 3 days ago in the vented dam at Nyagala Mane in Chiththur village near Vandse has collapsed, water was found flowing on Saturday, November 12.

Local people have expressed apprehensions regarding the quality of work. The contractor from Kalavara has taken the responsibility of the project. The wok was started a year ago. Fibre planks were inserted 3 days ago as the work was completed. The collapse of a portion of the planks within 3 days has anguished the people.

Local people have suspected financial irregularities in the project as the fibre planks could not withstand the pressure of water even for a week. They said that there should be investigations into it.

When media asked the contractor, he said that he has the responsibility to maintain the dam for 5 years. "The fibre plank has been inserted in an experimental basis and another strong fibre plank will be inserted in its place," he said.
