Udupi, Nov 13: In a very tragic incident, a car hit a woman and her child waiting for bus at Pangala near Kaup on Mangaluru-Udupi highway on Sunday, November 13.

Pushpalatha (43), wife of Niranjan from Innanje Pangala and their son Thaksh (3) are the deceased.

The accident happened when Pushpalatha, an Anganwady teacher from Innanje School, was waiting for bus with her son to go to her mother’s house in Malpe.

The Maruti Swift car which was coming from Mangaluru, lost control of the driver, and hit the board near the bus stop and then moved over the mother and son. As an impact, when the mother was thrown out, the son got trapped inside the car.

The locals took the duo to hospital, but the doctors said that the mother and son were brought dead.

Local MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake visited the hospital and consoled the family. He also made sure that post-mortem procedure was done without any delay and he remained till the dead bodies were handed over to relatives.

Kaup police have registered a case.

Mobile use or talking with passengers and along with that speeding. Now when my focus is somewhere else I don't know where is brake, and many times I end up on accelerator.

I strongly disagree on your comment. First of all the question is how did the car hit the pole. The answer is he would have been over speeding (which is nowhere mentioned in the news) which made him loose the control of the his driving & hit the pole killing the woman & the child. Also the news dosen't say that they were standing close to the road. The picture clearly says that the car has jumped out from the road.

In the comments many of the people are blaming the car driver, But i wont do that. Car first hit pole and then hit the woman and her son who were waiting for the bus. The question is why they were standing in a close proximity to the road? the answer is they have to in order to get the bus. why bus are allowed to stop near/on the highway?

Most of the reason why people die is due to the bad design of the roads. there is no safety built into it.

Look at the Registration Plate Number and know the rash driving of the vehicle involved in this accident. That will tell the fact. Stand anywhere on road side between Thokkot Junction till Mangalore Airport and You will be shocked to see the speed and arrogant driving behavior of Kerala Registration Vehicles. Specially Vehicles bearing the number plate KL14. Even ask the Traffic Police and they will tell you about it. Result of Gold Smuggling,Drug and few other illegal income. I kindly request Police Commissioner to send PCR Vehicle to monitor this problem, before someone ends up in funeral home instead of Airport.

This is way beyond due sense of responsible driving. The culmination of deaths due to reckless and irresponsible driving such as this, amounts to murder, and not an accident. So shocking and tragic incident, should never ever had happened.

Really feel very sad for the loss of life of mother and son, by the careless driving by the driver.
