Mangaluru, Nov 13: "The people of the state need not worry about availability of salt as there is sufficient amount of salt in the market," said UT Khader, minister for food and civil supplies.
Addressing the media persons in the city Khader said "I have come across the reports in the media about shortage of salt. It is just a rumour spread by few people. Our officials have visited markets in all the districts and no scarcity of salt has been found anywhere. If anyone is found spreading the rumours about shortage of salt, please inform the food department officials and we will take the necessary action.” Khader said.
Ceiling on stocks in warehouses
“Since there is a chance for the vendors to stock the food items and create scarcity and thus get the benefit of the price hike, effective from today , whole sale stock limit in any warehouse must not exceed 1000 quintals for each commodity and for retail warehouses it should not exceed 100 quintals. If any warehouse is found violating this, the food department officials will raid the warehouse and seize the materials” Khader warned.
Unplanned approach by the union government
Commenting on the present crisis of shortage of notes, Khader said "I welcome the move of demonetisation by the union government to curb the black money but they must have made sufficient arrangements. Since there are no alternative measures, the common people are wasting the whole day waiting in the queue. I do not think the wealthy people are affected by the current queues.
“The finance minister of the nation has utterly failed. Somehow the people have managed patiently for the past few days. Still Rs 100 notes are not available in the banks. The banks are giving the 2 of the Rs 2,000 notes in exchange for old notes of Rs 4000 value. When a person buys something he gets the old notes back as the change. A common man cannot go back to the bank again and again. The union government must take immediate measures to supply note of Rs 100. Appeal to maintain peace
Speaking about the repetition of assault and stabbing incidents in Ullal area, Khader said "These acts are repeated to create barriers between two religions and spread the hatred. I request people of all religions to cooperate with the police in nabbing the culprits. Please do not pay heed to the rumours. We have our faith on police. The people are cooperating with police department. The police department will not trouble the innocents. They will find answers for the questions pertaining to the continuous incidents and bring the culprits behind the bars.”
