Puttur, Nov 14: After a Maruti Omni vehicle hit a roadside tree at Nejikaru in Ilantila village on Guruvayanakere -Uppinangady Road on the evening of Sunday November 13, seven persons including three small children suffered grievous injuries. The accident occurred after the driver of the van lost control over the vehicle.

Owner-cum-driver of the van, Abubakker (53), his wife, Bifatumma (46), children, Irshad (18), and Ashika (15), as well as grandchildren, Mufeeda (3), Muzamir (2) and Muhifa (4), were injured.

The family was returning home located at Alake in Tannirpanth village in Beltangady taluk after attending a programme at Puttur, when this accident happened. The vehicle was negotiating a road bend at Nejikaru when it went out of the driver's control. After hitting the tree, the front portion of the van was badly damaged. Children seated on the front seat suffered serious injuries to their faces and got stuck inside the van. Locals who rushed to help the occupants of the van had difficulty in releasing the children from the spot and sending them to hospital at Uppinangady for emergency care.

After providing preliminary treatment at Uppinangady hospital, the injured were admitted into some private hospitals at Mangaluru. A case about the incident was registered by Puttur traffic police.

    Mr. Jossy, when a person is careless while driving, whether it is Omini or or any other vehicle, certainly the person at the wheel invites danger. I have a Omini with me for the last 7 years, it is good vehicle provided driving is done carefully. Otherwise, it is certain to invite accident due to carelessness. i am not telling if a person meets with an accident, on account of fault of the other vehicle. I have seen many a times Omini or any other vehcle are driven in a rash manner, not bothering the other road users. Many a times, youngsters drive carelessely, including driving from the opposite directions inspite of one way, having divider road and they become nuisance to others. This type of nuisance driving can be seen between Mangalore to B. C. Road double road Highway having Road Divider at the center. They even cross the railway track at unmanned level crossing and blame the railways for the accident. This all these nuisances occur between Farangipete and Thumbe on this stretch of this road and those drivers start yelling at the other road user who are perfectly follow the road users. Do you have any explanations or suggestion to these people?
    So do not blame the manufacturer of the Omini vehicle, Maruthi Suzuki. Believe me, most of the accidents involving Omini take place with reckless driving, driving on a wrong or one way side etc. You come and see for yourself then you will agree with me, as I use the Highway to go to Belthangady side.     THERE SHOULD BE CAMPAIGN TO CHECK THE LICENSE OF THE ALL DRIVERS !

    ALL SURVIVED DRIVERS LICENSES TO BE CONFISCATED FOR ANOTHER 5 YEAERS
