Kasargod: Theft of ornaments leaves family poorer by six lac rupees

Kasargod, Nov 14: Unknown thieves gained entry into a house at Vayaraballi near Periya in the district and took away 26 sovereigns of gold ornaments valued at around six lac rupees. The theft occurred between Friday evening and Saturday evening.

Owner of the house, Vayaraballi Durgaprasad, who works in merchant navy, was on a visit to his native place in connection with the marriage of a relative. The family had locked house and left for the house of the relative to participate in the said marriage on Friday evening. When the family members returned home on Saturday evening, they saw that the front door had been broken open and the house had been burgled.

In a complaint filed in Bekal police station, the family said that the gold ornaments kept in the cupboard had been taken away by the thieves. Policemen have launched an investigation into this theft.
