Udupi: Demonetisation- Unable to withdraw pension in post office, man dies

Udupi, Nov 17 (DHNS): A 70-year-old man reportedly died after he failed to collect sufficient money for his treatment as he could not obtain his pension in the wake of the ongoing currency woes.

Mahabala Poojary (70) was a resident of Rajeev Nagar at Palimar near here. He is survived by his wife Indira Poojarthi (65), who is also sick.

It is said that Poojary was a diabetic and has been visiting the post office almost everyday for the last few days to withdraw his pension, which was the only financial support for the aged couple.

However, the staff at the post office repeatedly did not pay him money citing insufficient change.

On Tuesday too, Poojary had reportedly requested the post office staff to pay him his pension as he badly needed money for treatment.

But according to locals, he could not withdraw the money.Taluk Panchayat member Dinesh Palimar learnt about Poojary’s problem and was about to call an ambulance to shift him to Udupi hospital. But Poojary died in his house.

Meanwhile, the post office staff denied the charges made by the locals.

“A number of people have enquired about the pension, but we are not aware who is Mahabala Poojary. The post office is unable to disburse the pension due to insufficient change. The problem is not limited to our post office alone. It is there everywhere,” a staffer added.

Start with one of the most ludicrous cases where a “businessman” in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh allegedly felt chest pains and died soon after watching Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of demonetisation on November 8. Are we supposed to believe that it was what he was watching that led to his death? So for example, if he were watching Star Wars, would we blame Darth Vader for his death?

Take the case of a 96-year-old man in Udupi, Karnataka who died allegedly waiting in a long queue in a bank. Guess what? The man’s son says his father’s death had nothing to do with waiting in queue at the bank. So this one is at best poor fact checking or poor attempt at propaganda by the author.

Up next, a 45-year-old man in Kerala dies while falling from a construction area in the bank branch where he was depositing money. He had already successfully deposited money the previous day at the same bank. At best, you could blame lack of barricades that would have saved him falling but it’s more than a stretch to blame Modi and demonetisation.

    @ J Gonsalves,
You are very superficial, and you know that. A Child died because hospital refused to accept 500 and 1000? Why is the hospital handling huge black money that they cannot take any more 500 and 1000 notes? Which hospital are you talking about in Bannur and Puttur? Or, are you lying like you always do?

    Unquote.

K.S. MAYYA WILL SAY THIS MAN HAS DIED OF OLD AGE AND HE DIED SUPERFICIALLY. Post office was from Bannur/ Puttur who had huge black money of 500 and 1000 rupee notes so that they couldn’t give pension to the pensioner.

where is BJP RSS VHP BD and various sena candidates, why not help the sick and aged people in hour of crisis?? by filling forms, standing in queue for them, etc??

why only BJP , RSS and all need to help these villagers. Why not all those who are scribbing now tried to help him or these people. Where were you when this man died ? It's not Modi's responsibility to help the people who are in trouble due to this pro public or pro india initiative. It's all ours responsibility to help who ever and where ever people are in need of. Instead of crying after their deaths, instead of taking Cameras to the people in queue asking their are they feeling tired, are they feeling worries... instead get in to any good help to them... then we will agree.... than simply blaming Modi for everything... Day is not far when all anti-india people blame Modi for their wives conceiving also.... I am not joking...

Nobody die all of sudden without money or medicene. When people reach last stage..other's try to give different angle to avail compensation. By the way earlier average age of people is around 10,000 years...latter on comes to 1000 years..and again reduced to 100 years. Now at present is around 70 to 85 years approximately.

There are many ways of money looting (legally) in India.
e.g. Importing Coal to India from Indonesia or Africa.
    1. Africa/ Indonesia company will ship the cargo to India via Singapore or Dubai. But cargo will be moving directly to India. Documents only rooted through tax free country.
    2. First company (with certificate of origin) will sell the cargo on certain amount (may be USD. 90/- per ton) to the tax free country.
    3. The Company in tax free country (Dubai / Singapore) will invoice the cargo to Indian Company on USD 150/- per ton.
    4. The difference of USD. 60/-is expense in India as per Income Tax Act in India and net tax free gain in Dubai/ Singapore.

The owners of Tax free company in Dubai will an Indian through BVI registered offshore company.

Indian Government can restrict these malpractice by fixing the minimum export price and maximum import price for any commodities.
This will hurt the industry (millionaires) and not the common man.
