Moodbidri: Police took my calf under Bajrang Dal pressure, says hotellier

Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (SP)

Moodbidri, Nov 17: Muhammed Sakir from Beluvai near here has accused police of acting under the instance of Bajrang Dal in raiding his house at midnight along with some activists of the Dal, and taking away a calf belonging to him that was tethered inside the compound, alleging that it had been brought by him from elsewhere.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here on Wednesday November 16, Shakir said he lives with his mother, wife and three children, and runs a hotel at Beluvai. "To ensure that unused food of the hotel does not go waste, I had bought a calf from Jeremy D'Souza from Beluvai eight months back. On the midnight of Sunday, police from here, accompanied by ten Bajrang Dal activists including Srinath, Bhaskar Acharya, Chetan Jain, Jagga and Prasad, barged into my home. Accusing me of keeping beef in the house, they searched everywhere. After they failed to get anything objectionable, they took away the calf, accusing me of bringing it from elsewhere," he explained.

He lamented the fact that under pressure from Bajrang Dal activists, he is being projected as a law breaker, although he was not involved with any incidents of cow theft or selling of beef. He said that children and women of his household had turned panicky after seeing police entering the house at midnight, adding that his 65-year-old mother is still recovering from this shock.

"In a false complaint made to the police, I have been accused of selling beef. Bajrang Dal activists made use of police personnel to stop me from running hotel. As CCTV cameras have been fitted in the hotel, they chose to visit my home to trouble me. I have already complained to the city police commissioner, Mangaluru, about this incident," Shakir added.

Police personels' duties are to be vigilent over wrong doings by the culprits such as theft, robbery, dacoity, lawlessness, etc., and must perform their lawful duties round the clock which are commendable on their part. It is astonishing that how come a so called reponsible and staight forward Police officer raid on a so called innocent hotelier's resident to seize a calf which he has been rearing since 8 months and purchased from one Jeremy D'Souza of Belvai. How come that the so called police officer swung into action in the middle if the night at the behast of unruly hench people of bjp, so called Bajrung Dal. Shame on that blessed Police Officer. Has he stooped to this extent to harass a innocent hotelier becase he belongs to Muslim community? "Honesty is the best policy".

Cobrapost sting operation have already proved the nexus between law enforcement and fanatic organization.

There are many organisation called for investigation on the operation. But state Home minister threw the demand under the carpet.

It is fact that Congress was ruling in Karnataka. But in reality BJP is in power in day to day business in undivided Mangalore.

this is the reason prashanth poojari lost his life, if bajrang dal or rss has rights to enter any muslims house in mid night then every one citizen should have same rights to enter bajrang dal's house at any time in mid night if feel they (bajrang dal) are kept any illeagal things in their house. so every one must have same rights.

The Police force in DK are dancing according to BD/RSS tune. Even though Sakir is wrong , it is the work of Police alone to go and check. Why these Police need BD protection wherever they go??? It is a shameful for our Police force.
Commissioner should enquire and suspend the said police officer . If he is nalaaik , he has no right to stay there. He wants goondas then let him convert his station into Bhajrangdal Office. Shame Shame Shame.

Best solution for those who want to buy and sell cattle is, both parties along with their cattle should approach registrar's office for a sale deed where both parties willingness to to buy/sell must be registered. Both parties photos and identities must also be printed on the deed along with a photo of cattle and distinguish marks of the cattle.
