Puttur, Nov 20: In an incident which happened at Mottethadka near here on the night of Friday November 18, a man reportedly tried to rape a minor girl.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Rahman alias Adram, who operates a small business over push cart stationed near his house in Mottethadka. It is said that when a minor girl approached him to buy some eatable, he invited her to his home, saying that the item was at his residence. Once there, it is said, he tried to rape the girl but she succeeded in escaping.
The locals who came to know of the incident thrashed the accused and handed him over to the police. As per information gathered, Abdul Rahman acted as if he was suffering from chest pain at the police station, after which he was admitted into the government hospital here.
The policemen have registered a case.
