Doha: 'Home Sweet Home-2' screened successfully in theatre

Doha, Nov 22: 'Home Sweet Home-2' added another success feather to its cap with a successful show here at West end Park Cinema in Asian Mall Theatre on Friday November 18 at 4.00 pm.

Reena Castelino welcomed the audience and invited the organizing committee and the guests of the evening for a brief stage programme.

Guests of the evening were Swapnil Shetkar - writer, director and producer of the movie, actors John D’Silva and Rajdeep Naik, president of the Konkani Speaking community of Qatar Vivian D’Souza, Goan Welfare Association president Simon D’Silva, Mangalore Cricket Club president Prakash Noronha, chief co-ordinator Aloysius D’Souza, main sponsor Oman Air Mohammed Sayed, official hotel sponsor Gabriel Fernandes, support sponsor Arthur Mendonca.

Speaking on the occasion Swapnil Shetkar, Writer, producer and director said, "Response until now has been heart-warming and we are looking forward to the continuous support of people coming to watch the movie in cinema halls and theatres. We believe that our movie had a message that stroked the heart of every member of Konkani speaking community.”

Simona D’Silva welcomed the gathering and Prakash Noronha proposed the vote of thanks.

In the film produced by Madhav Gad and directed by Swapnil Shetkar under the banner of Go Goa Gollywood Productions. Almost all the actors from the first instalment have been retained in the sequel, with the addition of Konkani actress Samiksha Desai. Besides Naik, the movie also stars Aryan Khedekar and John D’Silva. Home Sweet Home 1 and 2 bring together the acting talent of two of Goa’s most-loved performers - comedian John D’Silva in a never-before role and Rajdeep Naik. John is also widely known for his exceptional work in renowned Konkani films such as 'Home Sweet Home-1', 'Nirmonn' and the Oscar nominated 'Nachom ia Kumpasar'. He is also the first dramatist from Goa to acquire the acclaimed 'Limca Book of Records' for staging 25 tiatrs with double letter titles, which include 'Vell', 'Ekvott'. Famous actress Samiksha Desai plays the lead heroin of the film while Prince Jacob in a special role depicts the former chief minister of Goa. Other supporting actors are Prasad Naik, Satish Gawas, Anil Raikar, Luis Bachan and many other famous actors. Movie is co-produced by Ashutosh Khandekar and Charles Lobo. Swapnil Shetkar is also the writer and director of the film and is the youngest film director of Goa, with three films to his name as producer and director.

The audience appreciated the story of the movie as it created an awareness of land affairs that happen in India. Part 1 was about the land grab scam in Goa, part 2 focuses on the politicians and their role in ruining Goa. Already Home Sweet Home-2 has screened 900 houseful shows in 3 months with record for the highest box office collection in Goa.

Organizing committee wholeheartedly thanked all the sponsors of the event and all the other volunteers who were instrumental in organizing the screening of the movie ’Home Sweet Home 2’ in Qatar.
