Van driver flees with Rs 1.37 crore in Bengaluru


Bengaluru, Nov 23 (TNN): A driver attached to a private firm, depositing money in ATMs for various banks, is absconding, with Rs 1.37 crore worth of new Rs 2000 notes, in KG Road, in Upparpet in West Bengaluru on Wednesday. The driver, who is yet to be identified, drove away from in front of Bank of India, KG Road branch, around 1.30pm. Special teams have been formed to track down the driver and money, police said.

MN Anucheth, DCP, West said when the agency employees and security guard stepped out of the vehicle in front of Bank of India, the driver drove away with the cash. The driver of the vehicle belongs to a firm Securetransit, which provided its vehicle and driver for Logicash, who were depositing at ATM on behalf of various banks.

The officer said money belonged to two different banks from where the agency had collected cash for depositing during the day. "As per their process, the agency would collect the money from the various banks, go to their distribution centre and from there, based on the route given to them, deposit the money in different ATMs. This theft has happened while they were collecting the cash," he said.

He said around 1.30pm, after collecting the cash from two different banks, the vehicle came to Bank of India branch in KG Road. "The two employees of the agency went into the bank to ask if it had any money to deposit. The security guard in the vehicle also stepped out for recess, leaving his weapon behind. During this time, the drivers drove away with the cash," the officer said.

Rs 1.36 crore was in Rs 2,000 denomination and one lakh was in Rs 100 denomination, police said.

    whats now?First they said new notes to be filled in ATM:End it is Denomination notes.Was it probably a Joint Action from Driver and gunman who left back his weapon.It is not allowed to Keep off,but wear all the times during his duty time.Driver may not come further with this amount .
