Puttur, Nov 25: Puttur police have arrested an accused wanted in the Rajdhani Jewellers shootout case.
The arrest was made when the accused Rameej Raja alias Fayaz arrived at Kozhikode airport from Dubai via Chennai on November 23. Rameez was produced in court on November 24 and remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.
The Rajdhani shootout case had taken place on October 6, 2015. A gang of six persons had opened three rounds of fire at the store. Four of the six accused were arrested, while Rameez was absconding abroad.
Rameez had fled to Dubai after the incident where he worked as salesman, sources said.
Rameez was riding the bike during the shootout.
Asir, Ali alias Munna, Anwar and Kalia Rafiq have already been arrested. The whereabouts of the sixth accused is yet unknown.
Puttur sub-inspector Venkatesh Bhat and personnel Prashant Rai and Narayan participated in the arrest operation.
