Bhatkal, Nov 25: A floating bicycle prepared by Thenginagundi higher primary school children here has been selected for national level 'Inspire award science exhibition'.

The bicycle without fuel has been prepared on the principle of famous scientist Archimedes. Items of daily use have been used in the bicycle. The bicycle can be used in places where there are no bridges in villages or islands. It can arouse curiosity among tourists. It can also be used for fishing.

It has a net made up of wire in the front which can be used to remove thrash or stick garbage from rivers, lakes or rivulets contributing to the Swachh Bharath campaign of Prime Minister Modi.

The bicycle has been prepared with a budget of only Rs 5,000.

Nearly 271 newly invented items were shown in the state level science exhibition held in Attavar in Mangaluru recently and the bicycle that can run on water, prepared by Bhatkal students was awarded 5th place.

The national level exhibition is scheduled in national physical laboratory, New Delhi on December 10 and December 11.
