Bengaluru: No Karnataka Bandh on November 28, only Aakrosh Divas

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Nov 26: Congress sources confirmed on Friday November 25 that rumours about 'Bharat Bandh' being organized on November 28 were false, and that protest against demonetization of old currency notes by the union government will be held that day in the form of 'Aakrosh Divas'.

JDS state president, H D Kumaraswamy, speaking to media persons at Mysuru on Friday, confirmed that his party will not support call for observance of 'Aakrosh Divas' as the people have already suffered a lot due to demonetization expercise. He criticized the state government for putting off the session of the legislature on Novembe 28 with the only aim of supporting the protest programme. He termed the state government's support to 'Aakrosh Divas' as unparrelleled , saying that for the first time a state government has supported protest programme.

The BJP has decided to remain neutral on that day without holding any programme against 'Aakrosh Divas', knowing fully well that the programme will not be successful in the state as only Congress is the major party that is supporting it, and left parties do not hold much sway in Karnataka.

At the same time, online campaign is being carried out on a large scale, calling upon people not to support 'Aakrosh Divas', telling them that demonetization is against people hoarding black money, which will benefit the poor in the long run.

All India Congress Committee has asked the state level units to organize block level protests against the central government's decision to trash Rs 500 and 1000 notes. It has asked its activists to convince the people about the fact that the decision of the central government has forced people to undergo undue problems, stand in long queues before banks and ATMs, and several have lost their lives in lhis act. The lives of farmers, youth, and unorganized workers have been thrown out of gear because of this decision, it said. The state government accordingly, has declared a day's off for legislature session that day to enable legislators to visit their constituencies and lead the party activists to hold protests effectively.

this is the problem the party people which is lead by some stupid leaders. Followers will be in a dilemma whether to support the leaders or not. In this case also, whole nation including state Congress people knows that What a stroke Modi gave and also they are sure that whole nation is with Modi on this decision. Now if they support congress high command and also other stupid leaders from other parties like Mayavati and Kejrival, in this bandh, then it will be evident that they own black money and black money holders. so, they took this alternate of calling this as a Aakrosh Divas and not supporting the bandh directly.

    any ways a good decision.

Why do I support the protest on 28th November against demonetization?

    1. A report published by financial agency Credit Suisse two years ago showed that almost half of India’s total wealth was in the hands of the richest 1% citizens, while the top 10% controlled about 74% of it. The poorest 30%, meanwhile, had just 1.4% of the total wealth. Demonetization has affected the poorest 30% and not the 10% rich who control India’s wealth. The black money is with the top 10%
    2. Farmers, fishermen, vegetable sellers, small shopkeepers without card readers or Paytm, taxi drivers, truckers, etc., have all been affected with loss of livelihood. There has been loss of daily wages for casual labour, or lower sales for vegetable vendors. Officially more than 70 people have died and unofficially hundreds more. It is a day to remember those who were martyred by an insensitive government
    3. I have problems with the way demonetization was done. In a democracy there are democratic processes in decision-making. Decision-making is not the same as decision-taking. At the level of decision making all stake-holders have to be consulted though decision can be taken by the Council of Ministers and not any individual. In the case of demonetization one gets the impression that there was no democratic process at work and the decision was made by one and may be some others with interests of their own.
    4. Demonetization is the function of the Reserve Bank of India. The RBI has abdicated its responsibility. The finance ministry officials have encroached upon the RBI’s institutional space and making a mess of it.
    5. In a democracy there is no place for demagogues. The very arbitrariness and the resulting chaos have affected citizens and ordinary people. Those in power have palmed it off as “worth the pain”. The poor are told they should bear it for the nation. What about the top 10%? Leaders in a democracy are accountable. There is no place for superheroes or gods to become political leaders. There is an urgent need to ‘devalue’ the exaggerated importance that we have given to the person of the Prime Minister. According to the Constitution he is “first among equals” and not a semi-god.

You are spot on Sir. But the problem is democracy only works if all the people want it and respect it. In present India we have a serious issue.

The Aakrosh Diwas for Cong supporters was in May 2014. The Chaiwaala trounced the Congis and reduced it to 44. Watch 'Rahul with Jackie' video. On the same evening another Aakrosh happened in Mlore. Veteran Cong leader Janardhana Baazigar Poojari crashed into the record books. So 'Aakrosh ' is really justified.

Right. Before 2014, all Indians were at heaven.....had decent toilet....never stood in que...never heard of scam....never heard of black money....It was Ramrajya! 60 plus years all in heaven. Two years now in hell! Height of frustration and blindness.
What makes sense in democracy is, instead of pulling leg for obvious reason, give a chance to Namo and decide in next election.

..majority of people support demonetization irrespective party affiliation..what ever may be the end result, there is a general feeling that existing fake currencies render useless since they cant enter banking system and those who had kept crores in homes struggle to deposit it to bank..new currencies can be faked but to circulate & to impact economy it may take another 10 years..Congress will face embarrassment if they call or support bundh..Bundh in WB/KERALA may be successful since people are used it.

I don't feel aakrosh, I am having hard earned tax paid money. hence I don't have fear & aakrosh. as per my view we should follow the law & order/rules of this country. if we break that then punishment should be there. why only few people have to pay income tax & remaining looting the money without paying income tax.
