Mangaluru, Nov 26: A person accused of stealing a diamond and platinum ring from a house in Lobo Lane, Kadri in the city has been arrested by Kadri police. The accused has been identified as Younus Ahmad alias Liaqat (36), son of Ahmad Pasha from Chikkamagaluru.

The stolen ring was worth Rs 14,22,000. In addition to the ring, the accused had also taken away Rs 40,000 cash. Both the cash and ring were recovered from his possession.

It is learnt that Younus had visited the residence of his relative's house at Lobo Lane here and stayed there overnight. He had spent the night in the room of the son of the house owner. After Younus left, the family came to know that the ring and cash had gone missing. After a complaint was filed in Kadri police station, the police had questioned household workers.

After the police came to know about the visit by the guest, they went to Chikkamgaluru and interrogated Younus. During this process, they succeeded in cracking the theft case.
