Mangaluru, Nov 26: Well-known author and former bureaucrat Giselle Mehta inaugurated 'Prathiyaan', an exhibition of unique abstract paintings and artworks by Deviprasad Rao at Gallerie Orchid here on Friday November 25.

Addressing the gathering, Mehta said, "Abstract art has multiple interpretations. Lisbon (capital of Portugal) is reflected with great affection in the paintings exhibited here.

"Machine has brought about the degeneration of environment. Taking this as a subject, Deviprasad Rao has created his paintings."

Deviprasad Rao recalling his attachment with Dakshina Kannada and Udupi said, "I used to be a Yakshagana artiste in Kateel temple during my childhood and later I turned out to be an artist.

"Any reaction to my work, I consider as a dialogue. I will restart the Buddha series of art soon which portray the preachings of Buddha"

Proprietor of Gallerie Orchid William Pais welcomed all and also proposed the vote of thanks.

Konkani poets Andrew L D'Cunha, Titus Noronha, H M Pernal, Kishooo Barkur and others were present.
