Dubai: Konkan Yuva announces Christmas Crib competition

Dubai, Nov 27: The joy of Christmas is here again and with it, comes the wonderful experience of cribs and Christmas tree. As every year, to double the joy of Christmas, Konkan Yuva, the youth wing of St Mary’s Church, Konkani Community Dubai, has announced 'Crib competition' for the residents of UAE.

The last date to register the names for the contest is December 15.

Evaluators will be visiting the cribs to judge from December 16.

The contest will be held in two categories - indoor crib and outdoor crib.


Guidelines:

• Contest is open to residents of UAE only

• Mandatory: Infant Jesus resting in a manger, Mary and Joseph. Other figures may include angels, shepherds and animals. Figures can be made of any material

• Any material and media can be used

• The Christmas crib must have a minimum of 80 cm height x 40 cm width

• All cribs should have the names of people associated with the creation of the crib securely attached to the crib

Crib is a depiction of the birth of Jesus; hence contestants are urged to encourage children to actively participate in the process of making the crib.


Assessment will be done on the basis of:

• Importance to handwork
• Creative use of materials
• Originality
• Maintaining traditional aspects
