Bahrain, Nov 28: Konkan Singers Club, one of the reputed clubs in the island, celebrated the feast of their patron St Cecilia, its 39th annual day, and Christmas party with grandeur on Friday November 25 at Baan Saeng Thai Restaurant, Auditorium, Adliya.
Since this season symbolizes the festive mood the managing committee had arranged a fun filled afternoon for all its members and guests present. The function began with the young and energetic compere Avinash Fernandes who welcomed the guests and members as the Christmas theme buzzed. He along with Nirmala Fernandes compered the entire programme.
The programme started with scintillating and mesmerizing carol singing by Konkan Singers Club carolers. Santa Claus was on call for the show who gave away Christmas tree gifts to all the kids below 12 years of age and distributed chocolates and sweets. Kids danced with Santa and enjoyed themselves. This was followed by a prayer song and dance by member’s children.
Nirmala Fernandes then invited the executive committee onto the dais for the cake cutting ceremony, followed by president Walter Noronha’s address. He welcomed the gathering and thanked the sponsors who supported the club throughout the year. Avinash Fernandes, assistant general secretary then delivered the vote of thanks.
The next session was set for entertainment. There were many dance numbers from the members and their talented children. Dances were choreographed by Ajay, Sonia Lobo and Ashel Castelino. Members also had a laughter riot through comedy skit “Mankod Dorcho Manganna” which was performed by Stany D’Souza, Sujay Pinto and Tina D’Souza.
Members had also the privilege of listening to melodious songs by Gulf Voice of Mangalore – Season 5 Semifinalists and rising child singer Shreyal Vas.
Many membership draws were conducted along with a raffle draw. Members went home with a lot of gifts in their hands. Members also swayed to the tunes of the magical music of DJ Francis who kept the crowd tapping all the while.
A sumptuous lunch buffet and beverages were served to the members and guests. It was a memorable day for all the Konkan Singers Club members present.
