Bantwal: Rider killed on spot as speeding lorry smashes into bike

Bantwal, Dec 1: One person was killed in a ghastly collision between a bike and a lorry at Kudrebettu near Kalladka on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway here on Thursday December 1.

The deceased has been identified as Sudarshan Shetty (29) from Bolangady, who was riding the bike.

It is learnt that while Sudarshan was riding from Mani towards Kalladka, a speeding 10-wheel lorry laden with tar barrels, plying from the opposite direction, smashed into Sudarshan's bike.

The impact of the collision was such that Sudarshan was killed on the spot.

After colliding with the bike, the lorry hit a roadside tree and the driver got trapped inside. He was rescued by the locals.

Bantwal traffic police visited the spot and took measures to clear the mangled vehicles.
