Kasargod: Group clash over football match ends in youth's death at Bovikkana

Kasargod, Dec 1: A clash between two groups in Bovikkana here on Thursday December 1 evening left one person dead two others injured.

The deceased is Povval resident Abdul Khader (19). Povval resident Asiyad (22) and Parapalla resident Aftaq (22) were seriously injured and admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The friction between two groups occurred at Bovikkana on Thursday evening at about 5 pm. The three youths suffered stab injuries in the clash. They were rushed to Kasargod Chengal community hospital, where Abdul Khader breathed his last. The other two were shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

It is learnt that there had been arguments about a football match in Bovikkana a few days ago. The same issue cropped up on Thursday evening and led to a full-fledged fight, ending stabbing.

Kasargod SP Thomson Jose and other officials visited the spot, conducted investigation and took measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Condemning Abdul Khader's murder, the Muslim League has announced a hartal on Friday, December 2 in Muliyar gram panchayat limits from 6 am to 6 pm. Abdul Khader was the son of Muslim League local leader Yousuf.

Abdul Khader was supposed to go to Gulf on Friday.

    Football or for that any other game is meant to show SPORTSMANSHIP and should be played in the spirit it is meant for.

    It is unfortunate that clashes between groups should result in cold blooded murders.

    It is time that counseling classes are held in important towns to help people to lead good lives and be important citizens of the country.
