Mangaluru, Dec 2: With the joyful festival of Christmas fast approaching, Milagres Church on Thursday December 2 conducted Christmas carols at Mother Teresa Ashram, Sturrock road and Bethany Old Age Ashram, Attavar to mark the festive season's advent.

Addressing the gathering, Joe Gonsalves, chief traffic warden, said, "I have come to celebrate the joy of Christmas with my friends here. There is no better way to celebrate Christmas than by following in the footsteps of Mother Teresa (St Teresa). She served the poor and the needy in the streets of Kolkata. She spread love with her charitable work. Sisters here are following the example set by her by serving the society. I wish you all a merry Christmas."

Fr Valerian D'Souza, parish priest of Milagres church said, "We have come here to celebrate Christmas with residents of this ashram. The birthday of Jesus is a happy day for people across the world. Jesus said that the service we render to the needy is the service that we render to God. Even Mother Teresa did the same. This Christmas season, let us all serve the needy. Lord is with us at all occasions. Jesus came to this world over two thousand ago and he is with us always. I wish you all a happy and prosperous Christmas."

Fr Anil Lobo, assistant parish priest of Milagres church and others were present at the occasion.

Entertaining aged people those who are in Ashrams is a very good programme. Such X'mas carol singing gives them some sort of happiness and entertainment. This needs to be appreciated.
