Belagavi: BJP stages dharna, seeks Sait's ouster over porn issue

Belagavi, Dec 3 (DHNS): Principal Opposition BJP in the Assembly on Friday staged a dharna demanding resignation of Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanvir Sait over the issue of his watching sleazy pictures on cell phone recently.

Opposition leader Jagadish Shettar said either the minister should resign on his own or Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should drop him. Siddaramaiah has claimed that Sait has not done anything wrong though the cyber wing of the CID is yet to submit its investigation report.

Govind Karjol (BJP) said the Congress forced the three ministers in the then BJP government to resign for the same reason.

But it is now shamelessly defending its minister who was caught on camera watching porn pictures on his mobile phone during Tipu Jayanti in Raichur, he charged.

Tipu Jayanti

K G Bopaiah (BJP) charged the government with trying to appease minorities by celebrating Tipu Jayanti. Law Minister T B Jayachandra charged the BJP with indulging in communal politics. This led to chaos in the House with the Opposition and the Treasury benches trying to counter each other.

Jayachandra further said Tipu was a freedom fighter. He fought against the British rule. “Shettar has described Tipu as a freedom fighter and praised him as great warrior while writing a prelude to a book on Tipu Sultan. Yeddyurappa (state BJP leader) has attended Tipu Jayanti functions in the past. Why did you do so (attended Tipu Jayanti) if he (Tipu) was communal?” he asked, charging the Opposition party with being anti-minority.

The BJP took exception to the minister and staged a dharna in the well of the House.
