Kundapur: No protective fence- Youth slips, drowns in pond

Kundapur, Dec 3: A youth from Hiliyana village drowned in a pond near Bandsale in Hiliyana after he slipped when passing by the pond. The pond has no protective fence, and the victim, Shashidhar (21) possibly overlooked safety aspect when walking by the side of the pond, locals feel.

Shashidhar used to work in a Bengaluru-based company. Since some days, he had going through bouts of depression, it is learnt.

Shashidhar often visited his village from Bengaluru to get treatment for his depression. On Friday December 2 afternoon, family members found that Shashidhar was not at home. A search revealed that his footwear was floating in a pond near his home. Thereafter, the information was conveyed to Shankarnarayana police station and fire brigade in the town.

Fire brigade from taluk headquarters and policemen from Shankarnarayana station visited the spot. The fire personnel who searched in the pond failed to get the body. An expert diver, Manjunath Kodlady, was summoned thereafter to help in the task. He succeeded in retrieving the drowned body of Shashidhar.

On the basis of a complaint filed by Krishna Kulal, a case of unnatural death stands registered in Shankarnarayana police station relating to this incident.

    It is a utter negligiance here.
    need not be fence every small fonds in village, wat is the guarenty after fencing also people will not go fall.
    see this guy is having dipression probelm , dipresed people dont know wat they are doing, then in this case our sea also need fencing.
