Kundpaur, Dec 5: A youth lost his life after a huge mound of earth caved in and buried him alive during the ongoing work of digging by the roadside for laying underground drainage pipes. The tragedy occurred at the road that passes on the rear side of Vyaraya Math in the town on Sunday December 4 afternoon.
Rupesh Paswan (21), a native of Bihar state, died in this accident.
The town has been witnessing brisk work under the plan to lay underground drainage pipes on various roads since sometime. When the ground was being dug with a backhoe on Sunday, earth caved in, burying the youth unexpectedly. The youth suffocated to death as a consequence before he could be rescued from the spot.
Rupesh was a part of 12 Bihar-origin workers the contractor had hired for undertaking the work of laying the drainage in the town.
