Mangaluru, Dec 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cashless dream has come true in city in at least auto rickshaw travel with 10 auto rickshaws installing Paytm facility on Tuesday December 6. Mangaluru becomes the first city in Karnataka to introduce this facility.

‘Tele Matrix for You’ company from Bengaluru has made this possible under the ‘Auto Empowerment’ plan. 200 auto rickshaws will be brought under the scheme very soon, it has been revealed. Kudla Souhardha Cooperative has rendered help for this project in city.

Every auto driver who has been registered for this facility is given a wallet number. The wallet number is displayed in front of the passenger seat. The passenger has to scan the wallet number from his mobile and enter the amount payable to the auto driver. Then the amount gets transferred to the bank account of auto driver. He will get the instant message in his mobile that the amount has been transferred. The passenger who pays the amount needs to have Paytm account. Paytm account can be opened with downloading the App. Amount from the bank account can be transferred to Paytm account anytime.

Auto rickshaws can install the facility at a private company in Kudroli. Already 200 auto rickshaws in city have installed GPS facility. These autos can also display advertisements which give them an additional income of Rs 1500.

@ abdul samad, mangalore, even after 70 years of independence why rural areas do not have power & water supply. Doesn't that reflect the misrule all these years

Rickshaw should put a big board as follows:
    * only the person who has iPhone or android can travel.
    * No senior citizen allowed who doesn't know how to operate mobile banking
    * and in a big letter change the name of Rickshaw to Rolls Roys. Then only this dream can come true.

Stupidity has limit, do you think who owning mobile banking and internet 24/7 travel by rickshaw?? Most of majority passengers will be poor. Will you provide them the mobile facilities?? Gen though someone has the facility why to use paytm?? Why not through any Indian bank?? Like: SBI or Rupay.

Good initiative. Wish this cashless drive continues to other retail sectors like hotels, supermarkets, fruit and vegetable shops, textile and cloth, footwear, electronic shops and of course for government fees. Life becomes easy and will have a transparent system.

..let people sitting in AC rooms gramble, let the common man start the revolution..its noteworthy that common man likes MODI idea, they never protested against ban, they even failed a Bundh called by crap politicians..a report says lakhs of Assam tea garden workers didnt had bank account..no wonder Congress ruled for decades in Assam..present Govt has ordered all the Tea estate owners to open bank account for tea garden workers..it reduces pay injustice where some managers take portion of workers salary, also makes company to show actual salary figures to PF dept(normally they show less salary) which will help workers with increased PF contribution..look at highly learned Congress PM,USA learned RAHUL, IIT learned KUJLI and vision of a chaiwala..leaders should come from grass root & have commonsense, if craps are parachuted from somewhere it will be disastrous for a country..

Good question. Internet required and also all passengers should buy android mobiles. Passengers may be of all ages. I wonder how it will be managed by old aged senior citizens who dont know how to operate mobiles.
This is also a good joke of era

'Amount payable to the driver' That's the big question. Is it what the meter displays or what the driver after incorporating a addition/multiplication factor. Ideally like wallet number the fare also should be scanned from the meter. That way it'd be cashless and argumentless transaction.

Paytm is partly owned by Chinese alibaba and levies 4% on all transactions. Better use SBI instead which charges a lower fee.

    Great thought! But the drawbacks?
What if the passenger doesn't have a mobile phone. For example, elderly people. Because they r the one who often travels by auto. Even if they have mobile phone, it should be Android. Are they able to scan the bar code. Normally people travel by auto to reach interior places. Andcwe know that the network will be too weak in rural places. So how will paytm work? Question to think and implement this system. All this is ok in foreign cities. Not like place like Mangalore or India

    Kudoos ...

this is good news. I wish all hotels, Vendors to download this app keep one smartphone with data enabled in their shop.

Again, to retain these auto facility with paytm and increase we must encourage petrol pumps to install paytm too. this way Auto drivers can fill fuel without a single rupee loss.

    Regards,
    Oliver
