Maharashtra Dr Death case: DNA samples of three victims match kins'

Satara (Maharashtra), Dec 7 (IANS): The DNA samples from the mortal remains of three of the six victims of the infamous medico Santosh Gulabrao Pol -- who earned the moniker of 'Dr. Death' -- and his nurse Jyoti Mandra, have matched with their relatives, an official said here on Wednesday.

Wai town Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Vetal said the three victims' DNA sample reports are positive, two have not been sent, while there is nobody to match the samples of an orphan, Salma Sheikh.

"The victims include Mangala Jedhe, Nathamal Bhandari and Jagabai Pol whose reports have tested positive at the Forensic Sciences Laboratory in Pune," said Vetal, who has been directing the investigations into the sensational case that broke out in August.

Pol and Mandre have been charged with luring and killing at least six persons, including five women, with lethal injections, robbing them of their valuables and later burying their bodies at the medico's huge poultry farmhouse, about 13 km from picturesque Wai.
