Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Dec 8: The Mangaluru police commissioner has ordered suspension of a police constable of Panambur police station for alleged sexual harassment of a woman in Kasaba Bengre.

The constable under suspension is Vinay Kumar.

Panambur police constable Rashid who had come to the house of the woman a few days ago, on the pretext of investigation into some case, had asked the mobile number of the woman. Later, a constable named Vinay Kumar allegedly began calling up the woman on the mobile and coaxing her to have sex with him. As the harassment from Vinay Kumar increased, she brought the matter to the notice of DYFI Bengre local committee leader.

DYFI workers who swung into action got the conversation between the constable and the woman recorded and presented it before the Mangaluru police commissioner with the help of district DYFI leaders.

They explained the case to police commissioner Chandra Sekhar and urged him to provide justice to the woman. The police commissioner who responded promptly got an FIR registered in the women's police station on the basis of the recorded conversation and ordered for Vinay Kumar's suspension from duty.

Let's decide one thing. Let's not politicize this now. If there is a clear evident that Vinay was in to these , then he must be punished. Let's deviate from the routine direction ... where we see everything from the party , religion , caste etc etc... That's why I called out.. if there is a evident for his misbehave, he should be punished...

A fence is put up to protect the grass. The fence should not eat the grass. Here is a typical case of POLICE ARE MEANT TO PROTECT PEOPLE AND NOT HARASS THEM.
It is good to see that The Commissioner of Police Mr. Chandrashekar has rendered justice and suspended the constable. Of course due punishment will be imposed to the guilty person after inquiry.
Itis good to see that we have an efficinet Police Commissioner who is quick in dealing with cases like these.

It's strange, always maximum punishments for cops is suspension and never dismissal.
