Mangaluru, Dec 9: Police from the city on Thursday December 8 visited Facebook office in Mumbai to enquire into the incident of posting of derogatory materials on Kateel temple deity and actress Ramya in Facebook.

As per details, after some objectionable posts were found in Facebook insulting Kateel deity Goddess Durgaparameshwari, a complaint was lodged at Bunder police station. Police wrote three letters to Facebook to reveal the names of the persons who uploaded the posts. Police also sought cooperation from Facebook to nail the culprits. But Facebook did not respond to the letters at all.

ACP Valentine D’Souza from CCRB, Inspector Shantharam from Bunder police station, CT special branch inspector Shivaprakash and cyber crime specialists from Bengaluru with the help from Mumbai police visited the Facebook office at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Thursday, December 8.

As per the information available, the police team went through necessary files relating to the case at Facebook office. The team also handed over the records they had obtained on the mentioned case. It is said that the issue of some derogatory comments posted against film actress and politician Ramya also came up during interaction with Facebook officials.

The case was registered at Bunder police station under 153A and 295A relating to the derogatory comments on Kateel goddess. A case related to comments on Ramya was registered subsequently.

The visit to the Facebook office was made by the police team as there was no cooperation from Facebook. It is now said that Facebook has said in writing that it would cooperate in the matter.

    The police just got there without any prior appointment it seems.
    only the receptionist and the assisting boy attended the meeting, that too in the reception area!!

    If there was a proper appointment, or a proper notice of the visit and in spite of that, had they responded like this.

    divine matters we should leave to the divine.the kateel durga will find out and punish the guily.This is what I feel the same when ever there is something wrong I find about my faith.

    It is unfortunate that we have lost a sense of the divine. How could anybody disrespect a deity, attack Churches and desecrate mosques? What will our children learn given the culture of hate? It is time that people of the region recognize God whatever may be the expressions and learn to respect the sacred

    If they can't respect the law of the land , block facebook in India. They are minting millions from India and they must adhere to the law and also they must support the government to handle legal issues.
