Her Canvas: Women's platform to showcase creativity


New Delhi, Dec 10 (IANS): "Her Canvas", a platform for women artists, film-makers, poets, sculptors, storytellers, potters, dancers and musicians has been launched here.

The platform, created by Women's Feature Service -- a news service for women by women -- and launched on Friday, focuses on highlighting the creative aspects of women and bringing them out to the world.

"Under this programme, we will amplify women's voices, create a platform for them to talk more about their lives and work. It is a space for both newcomers as well as veterans," Rakhee Bakshi, Director, Women's Feature Service, told IANS at the event.

The event was also attended by former Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi and eminent classical dancer Shovana Narayan.

During the event, poet Malini also launched her anthology poetry titled "Flotsam of the Mind", which is a collection of intimate poems, deals on relevant issues like depression, unemployment and ill-health. The Kathak dancer even read out few lines from her book.
