Riyadh, Dec 10: On December 6 India Fraternity Forum Karnataka chapter, organised a public programme in the Saudi Arabian capital on the 24th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, demanding reconstruction of the mosque on the same site. The programme was inaugurated by Janab Basheer Kerala, president of Indian social forum central committee Riyadh.
In his inaugural address he said, “Demolition of Babri Masjid is still difficult for those who believes in secularism and democratic principals," Janab Naveed Kundapur, state council member of India Fraternity Forum and keynote speaker for the programme, delivered his thoughts on demolition of Babri Masjid. Speaking to the gathering he said, "After the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, demolition of Babri Masjid is the second biggest act of terrorism. The fascist forces brought down the secular system of the country by demolishing the Masjid on December 6, 1992. It is a black mark on the constitutional rights, which provide freedom of religion. The demolition of Babri Masjid was no accident, but a pre-planned act of the BJP to gain votes. Even after promising the Supreme Court they would not harm the Babri Masjid, a section of BJP leaders provoked the party workers to demolish it. Many political leaders used it as an issue to come to power. Many promised us that they would rebuild Babri Masjid. But, it was all a drama."
The programme was presided over by Janab Ismail Inoli, president of India fraternity forum, Karnataka Chapter. In his presidential speech he said, "The Liberhan Commission report has named L K Advani, Muruli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar, as being involved in the destruction of our Holy Place, but nothing has been done to arrest them. Only rebuilding the masjid on the same site will serve justice and restore the faith of millions of upright citizens of India, Muslims and non-Muslims.
Janab Shareef Kabaka general secretary of Indian Social forum, Karnataka state committee was guest of honor. Irfan Uppinangady welcomed the gathering and Janab Harees Angargundi proposed the vote of thanks.
