The top three nominees of all 6 categories were also honoured by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino.

The multi-platinum recording artiste and playback singer, Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, was the chief guest. Roy Castelino, Eric Osario and Nelson Rodricks, Dubai joined her on the dais. Kavita, a Padma Shri recepient mesmerised the audience with her soulful singing.

Thanking Mandd Sobhann and Eric Ozario for inviting her to the awards, Kavita lauded the line of performances of the evening. She recalled her 'unofficial entry' into playback singing where she performed a Tagore song with Lata Mangeshkar in 1971, and then on her journey with singing, through 1979 and beyond, where she also sang for the film 'Maang Bharo Sajana'. She pointed out that those she worked with in the industry made it big merely because of their passion and dedication for music, and they did not seek fame.

"Songs in different languages with their essence define Indian music, and not just songs in Hindi. Bollywood can be heavy on listeners. You have your own voice and that must stay alive," she addressed the Konkani artistes.

Goa's pride Sidhanath Buyao engaged the audience with refreshing periodic performances throughout the evening. His Konkani radio, 'Radio Buyao' was launched by Kavita Krishnamurhty Subramaniam.

Sai Palondkar said, the world is a global village and this platform retains the enthusiasm for Konkani in this village. He expressed confidence in the future generation to nurture the language.

The jury for composition of music comprised Purnanand Chari from Goa, Lenoy Gomendes from Goa, Richard Monteiro, Alwyn Fernandes from Al Ain, Melwyn Peris and Joyce Ozario.

The jury for composition of lyrics comprised Pratap Naik from Goa, Sai Palondikar from Goa, Rony Crasta Kelrai, Ancy D'Souza Paladka from Mumbai and Jossey Pinto Kinnigoli.

The juries for the awards were honoured by Kishore Fernandes.

Mandd Sobhann's singing club 'Sumell’ presented a few group songs and Nach Sobhann performed dances. Arun Raj Rodrigues and Hera Pinto compered the event.
