John Baptist D’Souza, well-known in the Konkani literary world as J B D’Souza Cordel, was a resident of Kulshekar. He is the playwright of many Konkani dramas and skits.

Truly it is very sad to hear the sad demise of our dear friend, late J.B. D’Souza. We fondly used to call him ‘Battu’, who was then a dynamic artist with his fine acting skill and talents such as writing dramas and proficiency in direction. My association with him that when I was in Kulshekar Parish and member of CYM as well as involved in youth activities and in his dramas. My deepest condolences to his wife, Mary and her daughters. May Almighty give strength and courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss of their dear ones.

Well acclaimed writer, well known as one of the five, Pancha Pandvaru, in Konkani during 1970-1990 era along with Jossa, Kadap, AT Lobo, and Chapra. There is deep conviction and teachings along with lessons to society in general in each of their drama's and writing. Hope we continue to preserve their work at least for next twenty years.

May his soul rest in Peace.
