Mangaluru, Dec 12: In a heart-wrenching incident, a mother and her two children tried to end their lives at Permude within the limits of Bajpe police station on Monday December 12 morning. While the mother and her son died, the daughter survived.

The deceased have been identified as Jayagopi (66), and her son, Suresh (46). Jayagopi's daughter, Shobha (48), survived, and is out of danger.

Both Jayagopi and Shobha had together jumped into a well in front of their house today morning. Some people who saw this rushed to their rescue and brought both of them out of the well. However, Jayagopi had breathed her last by then. Shobha was immediately taken to a hospital where she is being treated.

Jayagopi's son, Suresh, hanged himself in a room of his home at the same time.

It is being claimed that property-related disputes within the family gave rise to this situation.

Bajpe police visited the spot, registered a case, and took up investigation.
