Udupi, Dec 12: Two women were caught by pro-Hindu outfits at Herga in Parkala here on Monday December 12 for allegedly trying to convert people to a Christian denomination.

The women have been identified as Seneta of Perampalli and Soumya from Mission Compound, Udupi.

It is said that the women had been going door-to-door handing out religious pamphlets to people in the area for the past one week. The women were also collecting addresses, mobile numbers and other personal details from the people, it is alleged.

On receiving information, pro-Hindu outfits along with some locals confronted the women on Monday and handed them over to Manipal police.

The women reportedly belong to a committee propogating beliefs of 'Jehovah's Witnesses'.

The women were arrested and a case was registered in Manipal police station.

What is conversion? Is it possible to convert some in today's world unless that person himself is willing to do so? Sounds crazy!! That community gives free bible education. It's upto the individual to take it or leave it. Didn't we watch Mahabharata and Ramayana on TV? Or someone forced you to watch?

There is no such provisions in Indian constitutions to prosecute these women.
The magistrate will be asking more questions to the police rather than asking the so called accused.

There is nothing wrong in sharing your beliefs in a peaceful manner...it is truly a constitutional right in India.. Article 25...people have no problem believing in evolution and font with the fact that there ancestors were monkeys n chimps without proper evidence but detest another logical explanation as to the existence of a creator and that we are all created... VR,

''people have no problem believing in evolution and font with the fact that there ancestors were monkeys n chimps without proper evidence but detest another logical explanation as to the existence of a creator and that we are all created''

Do you know what logic really is? Do you even know what evidence is?

Humans evolved from apes. there is not living ape ancestor living in wild today. Humans and apes have evolved into their present form from a common ancestor.

I suggest you to read evolutionary biology before posting silly comments. It just shows that you are ignorant in the matters that you comment.

oh.. great... now christians dont know what their duty is...

isnt it a irony that an atheist has better knowledge of religions than the people following it.

I have read in most of the comments were religious people have misinterpreted their religious text. They usually contradict their religious books. Most of the religious people have their own take about what their religion is rather than what message it actually gives.

As far as i am aware, our constitution permits people to propagate their faith in a peaceful manner.

This is NOT a case of conversion but a case of propagating. No one can convert a person out of his own will and wish.

Suppose these women have lured and proselytised Hindus let the law take its course.

Preaching, professing, printing leaflets to propagate and embracing or converting to another faith is a fundamental right of a human and constitution guarantees it.

They are little girls may be doing some pass time. So many people roam around with religious agenda and pamphlets every day belonging to majority religion  and minority religion . Some go in big processions and others wave flags of different colours. Some march with frightening long sticks and others show sharp edged talwars to big audience. Why only these two meek young girls shown like culprits? How could they harm anyone wearing the kind of dress instead of leggings and tight tops worn by the young and old alike?

Have you ever read the fundamental rights mentioned in the indian constitution?

    Kumar,

Do you think that i like people of one religion trying to convert the people of other religion? no. i dont. and i say this being an atheist. but here these women are just exercising their fundamental rights that are mentioned in indian constitution.

This is the problem that i have with people who are nationalistic and patriotic. they dont want any disrespect to the flag or anthem... but they completely disregard constitution when recognising others rights. What people have to realise is that constitution is the most important.

Had i been not introduced to books published by Jehova's witness group, i would't have developed any interest to read Bible. I have understood Bible (both the testaments) to that extent to question who actually Mary Magdalene was!
The same curiosity made me to read Quoran.
Otherwise i would have read and understood only Ramayana, Bhagavadgitha, Mahabharatha and Upanishads.
    Thank you jehova's witnesses.

Also learn why she was brought to Jesus? Why Jesus didn't punish her according to the existing Jewish Law as well?
Half knowledge is always dangerous if not understood properly.
Thanks for your interest in all the scriptures which is a rare thing for many but Vivekananda & Gandhi became great because of it.
