Puttur: Gas tanker falls off road, fire brigade averts danger

Puttur, Dec 13: A tanker carrying gas fell off the road at Neerakatte near here on Tuesday, December 13. Due to the timely intervention by the fire brigade and BPCL team, a danger situation was averted. 

The tanker was moving from Mangaluru towards Bengaluru. When the driver lost control, the tanker moved off the road and turned turtle. It is said that the gas started leaking from the tanker in a small quantity after the accident. But the fire brigade and the team from BPCL stopped the leakage in minutes after they arrived.

The traffic on the road has been diverted. Electricity supply in the area has been temporarily disconnected. People in the area have been alerted. Mobile phones near the accident place cannot be used, said police. 

Puttur assistant superintendent of police and other police personnel are managing the situation.

    Timely action prevented a major catastrophe. Lucky for him that he got a safe place to alienate the vehicle away from the road precincts. This is called absolute readiness to face any eventuality and should be 24x7
