Mangaluru, Dec 16: Kadri police on Thursday December 16 arrested the prime accused in the sensational Bejai Raja murder case that had taken place in the city in 2012.

The arrested is Pradeep Mendon (45), who is wanted in several cases apart from Raja's murder.

The Kadri police arrested him near a fast food joint on Thursday.

Notorious rowdy sheeter Bejai Raja was hacked to death in Falnir in December 2012. Pradeep Mendon and some others accused in the case were arrested in the days following the murder. Mendon was later out on bail.

Mendon faces various cases of murder, attempt-to-murder, illegal possession of arms and so on. In 2011, he was arrested and revolvers and live bullets were seized from him. Hailing from Udupi, Mendon is said to be associate of underworld element Ravi Poojary. He had failed to appear in court and had gone absconding.

In 2013, the Mangaluru police had invoked Goonda Act against Mendon.
