Beltangady, Dec 16: "Hygiene is part of one's culture. To ensure that cleanliness is maintained both inside and out of all the religious centres in the state towards conservation of sanctity in those centres, Dharmasthala establishment has come out with a new scheme," disclosed Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade.
He was addressing a press conference held after presiding over a consultative meeting on Thursday December 15 at Sannidhi guest house of Dharmasthala.
"Wherever there is cleanliness, the divinity of the centre improves and radiates. We will own a positive approach and make all out efforts to create an awareness about cleanliness among those running administration of centres of faith. In the first phase, before January 14, 2017, cleanliness drive will be undertaken in all the centres of faith like temples, Daivasthanas, churches, mosques etc towards enriching the sanctity of the centres. We will also take initiative to create public consciousness about cleanliness. The scheme will be undertaken with the participation of Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Akhil Karnataka Janajagruti Vedike, Yoga Sangha, Bhajana Parishat etc to make this cleanliness campaign a success," Heggade added.
Heggade said that he will personally visit some centres of faith to provide guidance to the implementation of the said scheme. He requested everyone to extend wholehearted support for this initiative with firm determination. He explained that he intends to organize another consultative meeting about the cleanliness campaign after a month in which Muzrai minister, district deputy commissioner and high level officials would be invited.
"We cannot differentiate between righteousness and morality. The media should spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness in centres of faith. Normally people visit centres of faith during tours and pilgrimages. Therefore, if media undertakes active role in spreading awareness, we can bring miraculous changes," Heggade felt.
Hemavathi V Heggade, D Harshendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, Hariram Shetty of Darmothana Trust, Dr M Mohan Alva Moodbidri, Erya Laxminarayan Alva, K Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Dr B Yashovarma etc took part in the consultative meeting and came up with advice and suggestions.
