Udupi, Dec 19: A young person was caught on Sunday, December 19 by public and handed over to police after he told the girl that he was Hindu and tried forcibly to befriend her.

Sameer from Padukere, a bus conductor, is the person arrested.

Sameer first met the girl from Honnavar in the bus about six months back. The girl worked for an astrologer in Udupi. Sameer told her that his name was Rahul. He asked her to love him first, then he behaved indecently with her and even went to the extent of threatening her. The girl, it is said, that she was talking to him because of fear.

On Sunday, when Sameer was taking her to his house in Padukere, some members of a Hindu organization caught him at Kota bus stand and handed over him to police.

The girl complained to police that Sameer was misbehaving with her.

Some people have complained to the police that Sameer has misbehaved with many girls in the past after telling that he was Hindu. In one case, a girl had complained to the police that he had misbehaved with her. They also said that if proper action is not taken against Sameer, it might lead to communal tension in Kota.

Brahmavar circle inspector Srikanth has taken up investigations.
