Unfortunately, lots of people do gimmicky acting: 'Everest' director

Los Angeles, Dec 22 (IANS): Actor-director Baltasar Kormákur, best known for films like "Everest" and "2 Guns", feels a lot of people tend to do gimmicky acting because "thats whats often got rewarded".

"I think unfortunately, a lot of people tend to do gimmicky acting because that''s what''s often got rewarded. But when I see people allow the audience into yourself, I think that is what really touches me in cinematic acting," Kormákur said in a statement.

"Everest" - which will air in India on Sony PIX on Sunday - is based on the 1996 Mount Everest blizzard tragedy, which killed eight climbers. The film stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Kormakur most recently helmed the Icelandic film "Eiourinn", and is now working on next film "Adrift", which stars Shailene Woodley.
