Doha: MCC holds jubilant children's Christmas party

Doha, Dec 22: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar ushered in the spirit of Christmas with a Children’s Christmas party organized on Saturday December 17 at Al Jazeera Academy Hall.

The Christmas spirit was very much evident in the hall with the Christmas tree, crib, decorations and kids dressed in Christmas shades with joyful smiles on their faces. Around eighty club children in the age group of 0 to sixteen years, attended the party and shared in the joy, celebration and gifts from Santa Claus.

Shalini Monteiro, cultural committee member was the compere for the evening. She opened the event with an introduction to the meaning of Christmas. Delviya Lobo invoked God''''''''''''''''s blessings with an opening prayer. Prakash Noronha, president welcomed the gathering and shared the Christmas message. A Christmas play describing the birth of Jesus Christ, the angel''''''''''''''''s message to Mary, shepherds visit and three kings with their gifts was well enacted by the kids and delivered the Christmas message. The play was coordinated by Kavita Tauro, young children sang beautiful Christmas carols in Konkani & English while talented budding musician Joshua Pinto accompanied them on keyboard ushering in loudly the spirit of jpyous Christmas. They were trained by Wilma D''''''''''''''''Souza and Eva Wilma Pinto. As the carols ended Santa Claus walked in surprising the kids with his gifts and entertained them by dancing with them .

Santa Claus along with the president and all the kids joined in cutting the Christmas Cake. MC Shalini got all the children as well as the adults present engaged in different games like candy sticks, balloons, Christmas beard and a competition between 4 groups namely Christmas stars, Christmas bells, Christmas silver balls and Christmas red balls group that were formed. Christmas silver balls group won the first place, christmas bells won the second and Christmas red balls won third place.

Riana Pinto, general secretary proposed the vote of thanks, Christen Denzil provided sound and music. William Lobo along with other volunteers helped in the decorations. All the kids were given Christmas goodies and a Christmas souvenir along with snacks and Christmas cheer as they left filled.

MCC would like to thank the volunteers and parents who were instrumental in bringing in the Christmas cheer and putting a smile on the faces of the little children.

MCC takes this opportunity to wish one and all a Merry Christmas and season''''''''''''''''s greetings of peace and joy to all the families and a joyous and prosperous New Year 2017.
